Backstory: The Icarus ProjectNoel's journey from a scientist to a mage is a tale of ambition, catastrophe, and redemption. His story begins in a world where the boundaries between science and magic were not just blurred but interwoven, creating a realm of limitless possibilities and profound dangers.
As a young scientist, Noel was at the forefront of a groundbreaking project, one that sought to harness the untapped energies of dimension rifts. This ambitious endeavor was distinct from the Nexus, an already existing device known for connecting different planes of existence. Noel and his team aimed to go a step further; they wanted to siphon energy from these rifts, envisioning it as an inexhaustible and unique power source. It was a bold idea, one that promised to revolutionize their world's energy landscape. The team, comprised of brilliant minds in both science and magic, developed a new form of condensed mana to open these rifts. Their first major breakthrough led them to an ancient, corrupted world. The Corruption they encountered was a perversion of normal mana, an insidious force that threatened to unravel the very fabric of their reality. Unfazed by the potential dangers, Noel and his colleagues plunged into studying this Corruption, driven by the prospect of harnessing it as a new energy source. However, their quest for knowledge quickly turned into a nightmare. Members of Noel's team began to exhibit alarming symptoms: hearing voices, displaying erratic behavior, and gradually losing their grip on sanity. The Corruption, it seemed, was not just a physical anomaly but a malevolent force that could infiltrate and taint the mind. The situation spiraled out of control when some team members, fully succumbed to the Corruption's influence, began to spread it actively. The once-controlled experiment turned into a disaster, with the facility becoming a breeding ground for this malevolent force. Realizing the gravity of their mistake, Noel managed to escape the facility's chaotic downfall. He tried desperately to warn the public and the authorities, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. The world, blinded by progress and ambition, failed to heed his warnings. Faced with the impending doom of his world, Noel made a drastic decision. Using the very device that had caused the catastrophe, he opened a rift to escape, leaving behind a world consumed by the Corruption he had helped unleash. His desperate leap through dimensions landed him at the University of Ulreich, a place in a completely different world. In this new world, Noel Walker found himself a stranger, burdened with the knowledge of his past failures and the consequences of unchecked ambition. His journey had transformed him from a scientist to a mage, a man who had seen the dangers of meddling with forces beyond comprehension. At the University of Ulreich, Noel sought redemption, hoping to use his unique knowledge and experience to prevent similar disasters. His story serves as a cautionary tale about the perils of overreaching in the pursuit of knowledge, and the importance of respecting the delicate balance between different realms of existence. |

Immune to natural/nonmagic flames of any kind, pyromancy spells of up to mage rank do not affect him. Aquamancy spells while damaging must be designed to snuff out flames to affect his actual body. Other magic flames such as soul fire, etc will still affect his soul, but have no outward damaging effects. Weaknesses: 2x weakness to aquamancy spells designed to snuff out flames. Increased ‘food’ consumption. Survives a shorter time in a low oxygen environment. |
Fighting Styles
Fighting Style: Phoenix Embrace
Base: This style takes the form of a mantle of fire that covers the user’s entire body as well as a pair of spreading wings around the user, the ‘wing’ span of the form is 14 feet. The fire making up this form is a semi solid construct in the form of liquid fire. While having little damaging properties, the liquid fire will defend the user’s body against Aoe like attacks, or direct attacks from up to titanium grade. Each attack will cost the user mana to rejuvenate the liquid fire in proposition to the attack’s strength. This form will last up to 6 post cycles.
Note: Does not protect from AOE like Aleam Armis, instead acts more as a one time barrier unless the user has the time to charge mana to reestablish the shield.
Enhancement: All of the user’s spells are enhanced with stronger denser mana, causing all of them to be cast with liquid-like flame. While active, all flames act/behave more like constructs or physical matter than energy. Other than a visual effect, this has the added bonus of causing all fires to become sticky and an increased resistance to water based spells. Anyone other than the user, will be affected by new adhesive properties, as the liquid-fire will stick to surfaces assuming they are strong enough to avoid being melted or destroyed outright. When flames of this fighting style contest Aquamancy magic of high mage or below, their innate effectiveness against flames is removed. As long as spells do not have a destructive force behind the water they generate the flames of this spell will not be dosed. If they do, they must be of high mage or higher making them on equal grounds. While enhanced this way AOE based spells are harder to sustain, increasing their mana cost.
